There was once a tree that grew crooked.
Not a little crooked. Fully, unapologetically sideways.
While every other tree in the forest reached straight toward the sky, this one stretched at an angle, as if chasing something only it could see.

The straight trees whispered about it.
“Poor thing,” they said.
“It will never stand tall.”
“It will never be strong.”
