JULY IS DISABILITY PRIDE Month
There was a time I thought I was done.
Not “done for the day” done.
I mean done done.
Dreams shelved. Plans crumbled. Identity? Unrecognizable.
I remember sitting in my car outside a pharmacy, prescription bag in hand, staring at the steering wheel like it owed me answers.
MS had just bulldozed through my life like a wrecking ball on a mission. My dream job? Gone. My body? Uncooperative.
I was grieving a life that hadn’t even finished living.
But here’s the twist nobody tells you:
You can still be the architect of a life you didn’t plan for.
You just need to hang up a sign that says:
“Temporarily Under Construction—Come Back Stronger.”
So, I did.
I swapped blueprints. Pivoted dreams.
Found new purpose under the rubble of “what now?”
Turns out, broken ground is fertile ground.
And no, I’m not the same.
I’m bolder. Louder. More me than ever.
Because when life rerouted me, I didn’t quit.
I picked up the hammer.
Now I wear my hard hat with pride.
And every time someone says, “But didn’t you…”
I just smile and say:
“Oh honey—my life’s not over.
It’s just under construction. And the comeback?
It’s gonna be damn spectacular.”
