A person with multiple sclerosis walks into a bar . . . and a table . . . and a chair . . . and a wall!
But this joke is more than just a punchline.
It’s a glimpse into the daily experiences of people with MS.
Or is it?
Every day, I navigate a world where my body can feel like a land mine, ready to trip at any moment.
Multiple sclerosis, the unwelcome guest in my body, has a knack for throwing my immune system into a frenzy, tangling the communication lines between my brain and muscles, causing fatigue, weakness, and brain fog.
Somedays . . .it's a three-ring circus in here . . . and falls . . . are my not-so-graceful signature move.
Multiple sclerosis is extremely unpredictable, and there is no cure.
My challenges with MS do not dim my spirit. Instead, they motivate me never to give up and push me to think about what it means to move.
We live in a society obsessed with competition and measuring up to others. We need to broaden the definition of movement, beginning with a mindset shift.
